Land That I Love

America

Thanksgiving is less than a week away. It is an obvious understatement to say that 2020 has been one of the most difficult years in recent history, especially for citizens of the USA and other modern industrialized countries. But I am thankful. To say 2020 is the worse ever, I don’t think is an accurate statement, in fact, it is not true. I would venture to say that people still living today from the late 1920’s and early 1930’s might argue that the years of the great depression were worse. Certainly the Black Death plague between 1346-1353 is worse, up to 200,000,000 perished. In the days of Noah, the entire population of the earth was wiped out by flood, but, they were warned, and could have survived, but they preferred being stubborn instead of listening to God. Only the people who listened to God and boarded the ark survived.

COVID-19 has had a horrible impact on our lives in many ways. Many people sadly have died. Most who have died however, had other serious illnesses they were dealing with. Some government officials have seized an opportunity to control the lives of the citizens in their charge. Mass shutdowns, destroying small businesses (a playbook for government control of everything, better known as progressiveness or socialism). Mask mandates are a favorite tool of the left (someone has made a fortune with millions upon millions of people forced to buy mask), but do mask work? Does social distancing work? Why only 6 feet, why not 20 feet? If 6 feet is sufficient, how come 5 feet 11.99 inches doesn’t work? Is the virus that smart, does it carry a tape measure, ready to strike down everyone less than 6 feet of another person? Why doesn’t it at least give a warning bell before it strikes someone? I have no confidence mask or distancing work. I wore a mask at work, I got COVID, and I barely had any symptoms, and healed fast, most people do.

We have to live our lives. If people continue to shelter in their homes indefinitely, they are acting like they are already dead. I am thankful for this country, I want to enjoy it, and I refuse to be deprived of diving in and swimming in the waters of freedom. I fear greatly what damage the likely incoming administration will do to this great country I love, but I won’t surrender my freedoms and those of my family and friends without a fight, too many people died for this country.
