Day Twelve: God Is Still In Control!

As I write this blog, I am watching the movie God’s Not Dead.  I am so thankful He is not.  Today is day 12 of the 30 day ‘stay at home order’.  It is early spring and yesterday winter decided to make an uninvited encore appearance.  To make matters worse, my company finally decided to obey the recommendations they had been given, and shut down all their stores.  However in doing so, it is without paying their employees, at all, after Friday April 3, 2020.  Additionally, they won’t allow employees to utilize their personal or vacation time.  This is requiring I’m sure, most all of their thousands of employees to file unemployment.  Hopefully this won’t be a terribly long furlough, as they call it.

This isn’t a time for being too anxious, though it may be difficult not to take that approach.  If God wasn’t in charge of the universe, then I would be terrified.  Things seem uncertain right now, but we know as believers, based on God’s word, victory is ours in Jesus.  Things will return to normal, hopefully soon.  People will go back to work again.  Kids will go back to their schools again.  Parks will reopen, sporting events will happen, concerts will resume.  We can hug each other and shake their hands again.  We can all go back to church again instead of online.  But until then, look around. Rabbits are still hopping.  Birds are still singing, dogs are still barking, the trees are budding, the grass is turning green.  The sun is still shinning, the moon is still beaming, and……… God is still in control!

Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 HCSB
